Thanksgiving is next week and companies are gearing up to take full advantage of the holiday shopping frenzy. I was at a store over the weekend and was handed a booklet that highlighted their every sale between now and the end of the year, with the exception of their Black Friday sale that was “too big to share” in advance. Companies will be taking full advantage of social media to interact with customers and drive sales, especially online. Check these great tips for fine-tuning your Facebook presence in advance of the holiday rush.
Set goals. Decide what you want to accomplish with your Facebook page, whether it’s driving people into your store or website, pushing a new product, or promoting a particular sale.
Design your campaign. Establish how you’re going to reach out to people – whether it’s developing an application or game that people will share or strategically posting high quality photographs of sale items that followers will be inspired to share. The most important thing is to perpetuate sharing.
Make it worth it. I’ve always said that the whole point behind Facebook is to educate, inform and entertain. Users are only going to be interested in content that they find interesting, entertaining or useful. In other words, there needs to be value in your content. This could be anything from gift ideas to sharing holiday stories to letting fans know about Facebook only specials.
Social sharing. As we all know, the sharing aspect of Facebook is what makes the social media platform powerful. Make sure that whatever your campaign strategy is, you’re always thinking about capturing the max amount of social sharing.
