This season we'll be packaging holiday cards and sealing them with holiday labels to send to our friends and family, but what traditions do people celebrate across the globe?
Germany: Making gingerbread houses--this is where the ornate confections got their start.
England: In England, "Santa Claus" is known as Father Christmas, but he traditionally wears a green coat, unlike the St. Nick in the U.S.
Italy: Italian children do not receive gifts from jolly old St. Nick. Instead, a kind yet homely looking witch named La Bafana allegedly flies around on a stick dropping presents at children's homes.
Poland: One popular tradition in this country is to pour hot bees wax into a bucket of cool water. The wax cools off when it touches the cold water, and the pieces of wax take on several forms. The shapes that the pieces of wax form are used to tell fortunes, which is popular because the holiday is close to the New Year.
